There are five appendices to the Rationale for the Advancing Democracy Model. By far the most important is:
Appendix 1 What Can Go Wrong - Seven Major Flaws Which Threaten Stability
This should be read by everyone. It provides examples of the disastrously undemocratic outcomes which can result from people taking action which is lawful under our Constitution. The idea that our Constitution or the monarchy guarantees political stability is a fantasy.
The remaining appendices will only be of interest to some readers:
Appendix 2 Why the House of Representatives is More Democratic than the Senate
This is probably only of interest to those unfamiliar with politics and the Constitution.
The next two appendices deal in more detail with the issues arising from the 1975 constitutional crisis. While too brief to be a comprehensive analysis of those events, the appendices do demonstrate how the actions of the Senate and the Governor-General in that year cannot be reconciled with a commitment to democracy. If we wish to the country to be democratic, constitutional change is essential.
Appendix 3 Rebutting The Apologists for 1975
Appendix 4 The Illegality Argument
The final appendix summarises how the Crown is embedded in the Constitutions of the States, and which provisions of their Constitutions must be changed to remove the monarchy.
